When I Heard the Learn'd Astronomer

When I heard the learn'd astronomer,
When the proofs, the figures, were ranged in columns before me,
When I was shown the charts and diagrams, to add, divide, and measure them,
When I sitting heard the astronomer where he lectured with much applause in the lecture room,
How soon unaccountable I became tired and sick,
Till rising and gliding out I wandered off by myself,
In the mystical moist night air, and from time to time,
Looked up in perfect silence at the stars.
~Walt Whitman

We read that poem in English today. And I actually liked it. A LOT. Which is really suprising to me, because I don't usually like the stuff we read. Except Edgar Allen Poe stuff. Those are cool =)
So the reason that I liked it, is because the theme is really a good one. And I actually understood it right away, which is a first. What I believe it is trying to say, is that you should appreciate all the little things in life, like the speaker appreciates looking at the stars at night. He prefers that over reading the facts and information about them. He appreciates the stars for what they are, and not what they are made of. =)

umm... i see. i think (?)

yes, i do. lead guitarist and vocalist of a muse cover band. though i dont like admitting it. makes me sound arrogant. thats why im quite humble about it. hence, ina previous comment i worte 'jamming to a bit of nirvana'. i wanna play some radiohead in our band but the other band members dont like them. they are mainstreamers. sheep. they listen to whatever everyone else is listening to. they suck. lol
